　　Each day, in Italy , at least four people lose their lives in workplace accidents. These casualties are labeled as “white deaths”, 1200 people/year, which newspapers tend to report to the public only when particularly dramatic cases occur. The need to appoint safety coordinators in all companies is an idea of Sacmi, Lega Coop, local Ausl.. In fact these organisations aim at holding a specific seminar in order to provide detailed information on the matter to companies, in particular those that operate in the Imola district. The meeting will be held on 11 and 12 September at Sacmi in Imola. The title “path to safety” is not casual. The promoters of the meeting intend to work out concrete solutions for this emergency situation to ensure maximum workplace safety.
　　First of all -the first day will be dedicated to reviewing current regulations: from law 926 dated 1994 that brought innovations to this matter up to the last changes seen so far (law 123 of 2007) and the single law (decree 81 dated April 9) approved after general disconcertment of public opinion for the tragedy of Thyssen. The changes of the rules seem to play an important role all over the sector. In addition to law 123, the meeting will also tackle the single law, the legislative document that aims at simplifying safety regulations and influencing the existing situation. Technicians of the Ministry of Labour will discuss new regulations provided in the single law then the representative of judges will illustrate the definitions, obligations, responsibilities, fines in view of the new legislation in the subject, Thanks to the contributions of Imola Ausl - a detailed description of the impact the Law will have in Emilia Romagna according to the risk assessment conducted based on information provided by the health organisations. The meeting will be closed by two important business associations that operate in the Imola district and on a regional scale, Legocoop and Unindustria.
　　The seminar will take place over two days to further stress the importance of its goals. The second day will feature technical workshops about contract management and machine safety inside a company.
　　All companies operating in the Imola district and small firms are invited to take part in this initiative. Sacmi, in organising the event with Ausl and Legacoop, has also invited its suppliers and customers and the representative of the subsidiaries of the Sacmi Group.
